Dragon Boat Festival 2011

Dragon Boat Festival or Duanwu festival is a Chinese festival celebrated on the 5th day of 5th month in the Chinese lunar calender. It is also known as Dumpling festival as the main celebration includes the eating of rice flour Dumplings and dragon boat racing. China is the birth place of this festival but also celebrated in Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia where there is a significant amount of Chinese population.
The annual Dragon Boat Festival in Singapore invites national and international teams to race along in decorated dragon boats. The dragon boat race crew consists of 22 athletic members paddling furiously to the rhythm of a drummer sitting at the head.

Rafael Nadal left Australian open 2011 after sustaining a shattering hamstring injury early in his quarter-final. He lost to fellow Spanish player David Ferrer. Ferrer is to face Murray in the second semi-final on Friday night.
Nadal injured his left hamstring in the second game of his quarterfinal against David Ferrer and went down 6-4, 6-2, 6-3. After taking a medical timeout on the changeover down 2-1, Nadal returned to the court with his left thigh bandaged and had a hard time sprinting side to side or getting a good push off his leg. While he may have been able to take out a less fleet or less accomplished foe in a similar condition, it was an impossible task against his friend and Davis Cup teammate Ferrer, who is nearly as fast and is relentless from inside the baseline. India World Cup team for the 2011 cricket world cup has been announced today! The selection committee lead by Krishnamachari Srikanth has announced the squad of 15 members in Chennai, who will take the responsibility of winning world cup for India.
The batsmen are quite obvious persons like Sachin Tendulkar, Virendra Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh where as bowlers include Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh. India vs South Africa 2nd ODI: India won by 1 Run. SA had the game in the bag and they …. choked. India won the toss and elected to bat first. India lost its first wicket M Vijay (16) early in the eighth over. The score was 22. Sachin Tendulkar (24) and Virat Kohli (22) then added 41-runs for the second wicket partnership. Kohli was unfortunate to get run out. Yufraj singh and dhoni made good partnership of 83 but after that India lost all wicket so quickly and gave a very simple target of 190 runs to South Africa.
South Africa didn’t have good start and lost the wicket of Hashim Amla on the total score of 7. Munaf Patel brought him back to pavilion. Graem Smith and Colin Ingram (25) contributed 59-runs for the second wicket. Harbhajan made Ingram to depart and got him lbw. AB de Villiers and JP Duminy couldn’t do much and made just 8 and 13 runs respectively. But then with David Miller (27), Graeme Smith before getting bowled on the ball of Munaf added some precious runs for his team. He played a well innings of 77 runs.

Sourav Ganguly says that “He is Transparent”

After being ignored in the IPL auction, Sourav Ganguly breaks his silence on Saturday. He said that he never did politics and was always been transparent in what he did as a cricketer.
Indirectly taking a dig at the IPL snub during a programme, Ganguly said: “I never did politics. I would not have been here if I did politics. With my practical experiences I say whatever you do, you will not be at the top all the time.
So when you are at the top, be transparent. The rule is same for all, be it in politics or sport. As a leader you must tell the truth. They might not like it but it’s important to be clear with your colleagues,” Ganguly said. More >
