From times immemorial, we in SEO land have been told that there are 200+ factors that will influence your website’s popularity. Domain Age being on the top 10 factors just below the Meta tags. There have been discussions whether it can be an indicator over years and some said it is and some said . Till today domain age is considered as a very important factor in SERPs  by many SEOs around the world. The argument is the domain is old that it may have accumulated more back links and and content over the years that made it a factor for SERPs. But if you just registered the domain and done nothing then the domain age is nothing but a number.

Just like the old saying “Age is Just a Number!” now domain age is also just a number if you didn’t worked on it.  Now it has been confirmed by Google’s John Mueller on Twitter and denied the myth that the age of a domain name does not matter in terms of Google’s ranking algorithms. Now that sparked an interesting discussion on  www.seroundtable.com. I personally support the argument that domain age doesn’t matter. What matter is how popular is you website and how visitors are engaging with the website content. We need to focus on giving the visitor a best experience and some very useful content to make our website standout.
