HP discontinuing the Operations of WebOS phones and Touchpads!
HP Killing its line of webOS devices and Touchpads. WebOS phones are great devices, much beloved by users, but they haven’t sold well. This may be the reason that HP has confirmed that they will be discontinuing operations surrounding the TouchPad and all webOS phones.
A press release from the company today reads “HP reported that it plans to announce that it will discontinue operations for webOS devices, specifically the TouchPad and webOS phones.”
WebOS may still have a future, as HP Vice President Richard Kerris notes that “webOS is an awesome software platform and now we can explore the best hardware partner for it.” HP’s Stephen DeWitt says “We are not walking away from webOS.” They will continue efforts to advance and perhaps license the OS, but its life as we have known it is certainly over.
