Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s First and only Female Prime Minister died at 87
Margaret Thatcher, the first and one and only woman to become British prime minister, has died at 87 after a stroke on Monday, April 8 according to a spokesperson. Margaret Thatcher is a Conservative Party leader and was prime minister from 1979 to 1990 and was popularly known as “Iron Lady”.
Political circles around the world are paying tributes to the former Prime minister of Britan.
President Obama said in a tribute released by the White House that Mrs. Thatcher’s achievement as Britain’s first female prime minister taught “our daughters that there is no glass ceiling that can’t be shattered.” He added that the “world has lost one of the great champions of freedom and liberty, and America has lost a true friend.”
Buckingham Palace said the Queen was “sad to hear the news” and would be sending a private message of sympathy to the family.
