Listeriosis Outbreak: Jensen Farms Rocky Ford Cantaloupes Recall

On listeriosis outbreak Jensen Farms is recalling its whole shipments of Cantaloupe and also working with the State of Colorado and the FDA to inform consumers of this cantaloupe recall. Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can contaminate foods and cause a mild non-invasive illness called listerial gastroenteritis or a severe, sometimes life-threatening, illness called invasive listeriosis. The deadly infection linked to Rocky Ford cantaloupes have raised to at least 17 nationwide. People infected with the disease range in age from 38 to 96, with most over age 60. One person in Colorado has died of the infection.
The Jensen Farms cantaloupes in question were shipped between July 29th, 2011 and September 10th 2011, and distributed to the following states: IL, WY, TN, UT, TX, CO, MN, KS, NM, NC, MO, NE, OK, AZ, NJ, NY, PA. The whole cantaloupes More >
