Scotland Yard Chief, Sir Paul Stephenson, resigned his post on Sunday on the context of phone hacking scandal which resulted in the close down of 168 years old news paper “News of the World.”

Scotland Yard Chief resigned hours after former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks was arrested.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson resigned because of “accusations” about police links to News Corp.’s U.K. unit. Sir Paul has been facing accusations that he had compromised the investigation of phone hacking by his closeness to Mr. Wallis, former News of the World deputy editor, who was hired as a public relations adviser for Scotland Yard.
