Wimbledon 2011: Maria Sharapova is set play in 2011 Wimbledon finals after a long 7 years time. Sharapova defeated the top-seeded Serena Williams 6-1, 6-4 in 2004 to make her mark as a future superstar of the women’s game.

Since 2004, Sharapova won 2006 U.S. Open and the 2008 Australian Open titles. She also has recovered from shoulder surgery in October 2008 that took her off the singles court for nearly 10 months. Saturday’s match against Kvitova will be her first Grand Slam final since 2008.

”There were doubts because I had many expectations on when I would come back,” Sharapova said. ”I set myself certain goals. I never really met any of them, to be honest. When you go through something like that you know that not too many players have recovered fully from something like that.”

Sharapova will play against Petra Kvitova chasing a fourth grand slam title. Conversely, the emerging Czech has never been faced a clash of this magnitude.
