Earthquake with magnitude of 6.8 hits Alaska: Tsunami warning cancelled!

Alaska Earthquake: The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reports says the earthquake of magnitude 6.8 hits Alaska, southeast of Atka, in the north-Pacific island chain at about 6:55 a.m. ET.
The tsunami warning is in effect for coastal areas of Alaska from Unimak Pass to Amchitka Pass. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said it did not see a threat of a Pacific-wide destructive tsunami from the quake.

HP acquiring Autonomy – The Enterprise Software Company

HP, the largest computer manufacturer is in talks to buy Autonomy, an enterprise infrastructure software company. A report from Bloomberg states that HP is all set to buy the European infrastructure software company Autonomy for $10 billion.
Hewlett-Packard will discontinue its line of products running its WebOS operating system, including TouchPad tablets, the company said today.
Autonomy’s main technology, ‘Intelligent Data Operating Layer‘ (IDOL), allows search and processing of text taken from database, audio, video or text files or streams. Recently released Apple’s new MacBook Air models have significant performance improvements over the previous generation and other Apple notebooks. The new Apple MacBook Air will ship in two versions: an 11-inch and a 13-inch. The awesome specifications include the Lion OS, the Intel Core i5 and Core i7 dual-core processors which make the Air twice as fast as the previous generation MacBook Pro and the Intel HD graphics, the FaceTime capability, the back-lit keyboard, and the Thunderbolt ports.
The 11-inch MacBook Air weights just 2.38 pounds, while the 13-inch Air clocks in at just under 3 pounds; battery life is 5 and 7 hours, respectively. Somalia: United Nations declared Famine in Somalia

Somalia regions like southern Bakool and lower shabelle has been declared as the famine inflicted regions and appealed for 300 million dollars help. According to UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia, Mark Bowden, the people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
“If humanitarian agencies do not intervene now, famine will spread to all eight regions of southern Somalia within two months, due to poor harvests and infectious disease outbreaks,” Bowden warned.
As per Bowden there are around 310, 000 acutely malnourished children in southern Somalia who need urgent help. Consecutive droughts and the ongoing conflicts have affected the country in the last few years has made it extremely difficult for agencies to operate and access communities in the south of the country. Somalia is the country worst affected by a severe drought that has ravaged large swaths of the Horn of Africa, leaving an estimated 11 million people in the region in need of humanitarian assistance. News Corp opts out of BSkyB bid

News Corporation withdrew its bid to BSkyB because of the pressure from the public and parliament on Wednesday. Rupert Murdoch’s media group News Corporation previously bid to take full control of pay-TV company BSkyB.
“It has become clear that it is too difficult to progress in this climate,” Chase Carey, News Corp.’s Chief Operating Officer, said in an e-mailed statement today. He said News Corp. remains a committed long-term shareholder in BSkyB.
This move shattered News Corp’s key strategy for UK corporate growth. The proposed £8bn deal has been in process for more than a year starting from June 2010. News Corp will have to pay BSkyB a break fee of around £38.5m after walking away from the deal.
