HP discounted tablets and Touchpad rates. The $99 HP tablet has arrived. Hewlett-Packard TouchPads are being liquidated in the wake of HP’s announcement that it is shuttering the WebOS device business. HP announced a fire sale over the weekend. The company’s website listed the 16 GB model at $100 and the 32 GB version at $150.

Across the Internet Sunday and Monday, people were frantically trying to find out where they might score that one $99 tablet.  At this point, it appears that brick and mortar stores sold out immediately Sunday, and the online stores ran out Monday. Walmart in Bristol confirmed that they sold out Sunday when the tablets were first reduced.

Twitter was popping with people discussing the HP tablet, the webOS, and the current supply situation. The HP Social Media Manager, Bryna Corcoran, assures Twitter followers that there will be more tablets coming to the HP online store. She also stresses that they are arriving from a warehouse, not being manufactured.

“Due to the significant price reduction, we experienced overwhelming demand for the product and are temporarily out of inventory,” said HP’s website Monday morning. “Please enter your email address below to be notified as soon as we have them back in stock.”

Amazon’s Lightning Deal sold out of 16 GB models in 25 minutes. The 32 GB went in 4 minutes.
