London riots started as a result of fatal shooting of London Police continued for 3 days burning the London city. On Wednesday the London forces are able to control the situation by making thousands of arrests. Now the rioting has spread from London to Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool.

The capital, is calm on Wednesday where hundreds of shops were shuttered or boarded up as a precaution. Massive police presence on the streets seemed to dissuade the rioters from wreaking more havoc. But as the riots spread to other big cities and a copycat violence, looting and arson erupted last night in Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Salford, Nottingham and elsewhere.

In Birmingham, three men were killed when they were hit by a car. Locals report that the men were attempting to protect their neighbourhood from rioters. The worst mass rioting took place in Manchester and nearby Salford, where police arrested 113 youths overnight. In Nottingham, Canning Circus police station was firebombed by a mob of 40. In total, over 1,100 arrests have been made since the riots kicked off.

Scenes of ransacked stores, torched cars and blackened buildings have frightened and outraged Brits just a year before their country is to host next summer’s Olympic Games, bringing demands for a tougher response from law enforcement. Police across the country have made almost 1,200 arrests since the violence broke out over the weekend.

The show of force seems to have worked. There were no reports of major trouble in London, although there were scores of arrests. Almost 800 people have been arrested in London since trouble began Saturday.

Britain’s riots began Saturday when an initially peaceful protest over a police shooting in London’s Tottenham neighborhood turned violent. That clash has morphed into a general lawlessness in London and several other cities that police have struggled to halt.

While the rioters have run off with goods every teen wants _ new sneakers, bikes, electronics and leather goods _ they also have torched stores apparently just for the fun of seeing something burn. They were left virtually unchallenged in several neighborhoods, and when police did arrive they often were able to flee quickly and regroup.
