Rupee declines by 13 paise against US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, weighed down by a lower opening in the domestic equity market. The domestic currency had a gain of 27 paise to close at a nearly two-week high of Rs 52.71/72 against the dollar in the previous session on Friday amid fresh dollar-selling by exporters.
But the gains posted by the US dollar against the euro and other Asian currencies overseas put pressure on the rupee. Dealers said a subdued opening in the equity market and dollar gains against the euro on worries about Europe’s debt crisis, besides losses registered by other Asian currencies against the greenback overseas mainly weighed on the rupee sentiment.

The BSE Sensex fell by 90.19 points, or 0.57 per cent, to 15,758.61 in opening trade today.
