Serena Williams Won her 22nd Grand Slam Wimbledon Title today by defeating No. 4 Angelique Kerber with 7-5, 6-3 scores. With her win on Saturday Serena Williams finally equalled Steffi Graf’s record of 22 grand slam singles titles. Kerber had beaten Williams in the Australian Open final in January but could not able to repeat the feat again.
“I had a couple of tries this year, I lost to two great opponents one of them actually being Angelique. It makes the victory even sweeter to know how hard I worked for it,”Williams said after the match. More >

London Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony

The London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony is a 3 hour spectacular tribute to the best of British music from the past 50 years. According to artistic director Kim Gavin it will be “a fabulous emotional experience”. The spectacle will be ‘the best after-show party that’s ever been’. He added that the bonanza will be the ‘disco after the wedding’.
Popular singer Jessie J and sailing hero Ben Ainslie ill both take significant roles in the event. There will also be speeches by International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge and London organizing committee chief Sebastian Coe, and the extinguishing of the Olympic flame. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be in the Stadium along with the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and other members of the Royal Family to watch the flag handover ceremony. More >

Madonna, the 53-year-old singing legend took the biggest stage in the world, the 2012 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Monna’s Roman-themed Super Bowl halftime show included a medley of her hits. The singer also debuted her new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin,’” during a set that also included classic hits “Vogue,” “Music,” “Express Yourself” and “Like a Prayer.”
She dressed impressively with a gold headdress, black thigh-high boots, a youthful pleated miniskirt, a black sequined robe and gold cheerleader pom-poms.

Matthew Stafford threw two touchdown passes and Jahvid Best added an 88-yard scoring run in Detroit’s 24-13 victory over Chicago. US Open semi-final: World No.1 Novak Djokovic beats swiss star Roger Federer by saving two match points and got to win semi-finals in New York.
Federer had won two sets before Djokovic roared back to win 6-7, (7-9), 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 7-5. Federer seemed in complete charge when he broke Djokovic at love to go up 5-3 in the final set. Federer went up 40-15 with double match point
Djokovic, the Australian Open and Wimbledon champion, has now taken his 2011 record to 63 wins against just two defeats, and stands one win from a fourth Grand Slam title.
