India’s Digital Payment Industry may worth 1 Billion dollars by 2023

The concept of Digital India is slowly taking shape and steadily moving towards digital transactions. Online shopping is one big thing and seems to be growing fast. With number of apps for literally to book or buy anything of daily use digital payments are now very common. Booking a cab in Ola or Uber, order groceries, booking tickets for movies or for travel are all now at smartphone user’s finger tips. Verizon Communications buys Yahoo Inc.

Verizon communications issued a statement on Monday morning and confirmed that it has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Yahoo’s core business for $4.83 billion in cash.
Yahoo Inc., Sunnyvale, California, Yahoo mail, Yahoo news and Yahoo Finance and Yahoo Sports as part of deal in which Verizon buys Yahoo Inc. The sale does not include Yahoo’s cash and its shares in the Alibaba Group and Yahoo Japan.
Verizon bought AOL last year in a deal valued at roughly $4.4 billion and plans to combine its online business with Yahoo once it acquires. But even a combined Yahoo and AOL would fail to outpace Facebook and Google, which currently account for over half of the U.S. digital ad market, according to a Wall Street Journal estimate.

BookMyShow got Rs.550 Crore funding led by US-based Stripes Group

BookMyshow is the popular movie and event ticket booking service provider in India, which entered Indonesia last month. BookMyShow allows users to book tickets for movies, plays, sports, and live events through its website, mobile app, and mobile site. BookMyShow is the Mumbai based firm founded in 1999 which have its its presence in 350 towns and cities. Accel Partners, SAIF Partners and Network 18 are also the present in the funding round which is ultimately led by US-based Stripes Group.7

Indian rupee fell by 13 paise to Rs 52.84 per US dollar

Rupee declines by 13 paise against US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, weighed down by a lower opening in the domestic equity market. The domestic currency had a gain of 27 paise to close at a nearly two-week high of Rs 52.71/72 against the dollar in the previous session on Friday amid fresh dollar-selling by exporters.

Facebook made its new Timeline pages available to all users, promising to replace its static profile pages with a visual presentation of the story of people’s lives from past to present. With Timeline, Facebook will display in chronological order every photo, friending and status message each user has posted since joining. The privacy settings will be kept intact, but all this content will be far easier to see than before.The feature offers users a visual personal history that is similar to a digital scrapbook. Galaxy Nexus from Samsung with Google Android OS

Samsung unveiled the first smart phone ‘Galaxy Nexus’ running on Google’s latest version of the Android operating system. Samsung and Google introduced the high-end model at an event in Hong Kong, after delaying the launch last week as a tribute to the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. Apple is Samsung’s biggest customer for microprocessors.
The Galaxy Nexus will be the first phone to have the new Android 4.0 operating system with a 4.65-inch high-definition “super” AM-OLED display and a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and features such new functions as face recognition to unlock the phone.
