Tumblr the microblog service is down

Tumblr, the microblog service is currently down. The Tumblr homepage is up and running but if you try to sign up for a new account pushes you to the error page.

Tumblr has taken to Twitter to inform followers of what’s afoot: “We’re working quickly to recover from a major issue in one of our database clusters. We’re incredibly sorry for the inconvenience.”

Loading different Tumblr blogs and/or loading the same Tumblr blog provides either an the “Error” message or an overloaded servers message.
